First of many?

Warrington based distributor VIP Computer Centre has announced it is stocking the Asus version of the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2, which was launched yesterday and was immediately crowned the fastest single graphics card in the world.

VIP's press release says the card "offers everything a hardcore gamer could need and a little bit extra just for fun". This is pretty consistent with our own findings; that the card is indeed the fastest, but possibly only the most ambitious gamers will fully utilise this power.

Having said that, for a top-end card it has the potential to be pretty successful. We asked VIP product manager Matthew Parrish what kind of response he's received from the channel. "The early signs have been very good and we've received a high level of interest so far - especially when you consider that this is supposed to be a quiet time of year," he said.

With Realtime having told HEXUS.channel this morning that it had received a bunch of SKU's (Sapphire, we assume) it looks like the availability of the 4870 X2 is starting to pick up. We would like to hear from HEXUS.channel readers about their thoughts on the potential of this product and how easy they've found it to get hold of one.

Here's a photo of the beast in all its glory and featuring a nice line in elf-porn card art.
