VIP sells Seashells…
The latest in a long line of netbooks from ASUS, the Eee PC Seashell 1005HA (reviewed last week on HEXUS) is being brought to the UK channel first by Warrington distie VIP Computer Centre.
VIP seems to be trying to position itself as a bit of an ASUS specialist, being consistently quick off the mark with their product launches. One of the main drivers behind this strategy at VIP has been notebook and netbook product manager Chris Bloxham.
"VIP is delighted to be the first UK distributor to stock the new ASUS 1005HA Seashell," said Bloxham. "Just like previous ASUS EEE PCs, the high quality finish and sleek design are clear to see in the 1005HA. With only 1000 units landing for the launch in the UK, customers are advised to place orders early to avoid disappointment."
The 1005HA is, somewhat confusingly, the successor to the recently launched 1008HA. The big improvement seems to be in battery life, although under HEXUS review conditions it fell short of the claimed 10.5 hours.
