Incredibly brave?

HTC's revamped handset, the Incredible S will initially be exclusive to The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy in the UK.

Know Your Mobile reported the handset's availability just hours after it was unveiled at MWC yesterday.

Graham Stapleton, CCO for Best Buy Europe, reportedly said: "I'm delighted that The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy are able to offer this incredible product exclusively to our customers."

"This launch underlines the progress we are making with HTC as our strategic partner and the phone will certainly be a hit with those looking to have the edge when it comes to their mobile," he reportedly added.

HTC said at the launch that the Incredible S will launch in Q2 and boasts a 4 inch display, 8MP camera with dual-flash and autofocus, front facing camera for VGA chatter and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

It is set to launch powered by Android 2.2 Froyo but an upgrade to Gingerbread 2.4 is promised.

Here is an image of the handset alongside the other HTC refresh models.

I thought Gingerbread was 2.3?

Looks like 2.3 and 2.4 will both be Gingerbread, just like 2.0 and 2.1 were both Eclair. As far as I'm aware, 2.4 makes minor changes to 2.3 with the main change being to introduce dual core support so that Honeycomb apps will be compatible with 2.4.
OK, Mr HTC. If you don't want to sell it to me I won't be buying it. I do NOT want another layer of bloodsuckers in my life.

According to Anandtech, even 2.2 is multi-core capable on the new dual core phones (i.e. they are running an SMP kernel). 2.3 onwards is just more heavily threaded to make even better use of multi core processors.

Unfortunately it seems that I can't post any URLs yet as my post count is not high enough, but look for the LG Optimus / Tegra 2 review and see “Performance: Android and multi-threading”
