The Nokia E72 is the successor to the E71, logically enough. With a full QWERTY set of keys it appears to be a direct competitor to equivalent Blackberry devices.

Describing how it improves on its predecessor, Nokia VP Ilari Nurmi said: "...we included the desktop like email experience from the Nokia E75 and gave it a new optical navigation key for more intuitive scrolling through menus, emails and fast panning of images. We also upgraded the camera to 5 megapixels and added a standard 3.5 mm audio jack."

Additionally, you can now use Nokia Messenging to connect to instant messaging accounts, including Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi. Windows Live Messenger was not mentioned.

The E72 will begin shipping late in the third quarter of 2009 at an estimated retail price of €350 before taxes and subsidies.
