PRESS RELEASE

Wacom’s two new styli take the Windows Ink Workspace and other pen-enabled, pressure-sensitive apps to new heights with an improved experience optimized for either writing and note-taking or drawing and sketching.

Tokyo, Japan and Düsseldorf, Germany. – 18 June 2019 – Wacom announces the new Bamboo Ink and Bamboo Ink Plus, the company’s latest smart styli for the Windows Ink Workspace. They feature an improved design and an optimized feature set to match the specific needs of note-takers and creative thinkers working on compatible Windows 10 pen-enabled PCs. Where the Bamboo Ink is ideal for everyone who wants to take hand-written notes and mark up documents, the Bamboo Ink plus is designed for the more creative users who wish to freely sketch and draw on screen.

“The Bamboo Ink and Bamboo Ink Plus together offer a choice of high-precision styli that will appeal to a wide range of users who appreciate being able to draw or write on their PC no matter where they are – home, office, school, plane, park bench, virtually anywhere, says Heidi Wang, Senior Vice President of Wacom’s Ink Division. “By turning every stroke into a precise digital representation of our thoughts and imagination, these new smart styli can help bring out the visual thinker and artist in all of us. We cannot wait to see what people create with Bamboo Ink and Bamboo Ink Plus.”

Bamboo Ink takes ideas further

This smart stylus with its pressure sensitive fine tip offers a precise and natural pen experience across a wide range of pen-enabled devices. It grants easy access to Windows Ink Workspace and is ideal for note-taking and annotation. Its well-balanced grip and long-lasting battery help to take ideas further. Because this stylus is all about productivity and ease of use, the new Bamboo Ink comes at a competitive price while keeping the best features of the previous generation.

Bamboo Ink Plus energizes artistic expression

This smart stylus opens up the full potential of Windows 10 pen-enabled devices. A simple push on the button and the Bamboo Ink Plus launches Windows Ink Workspace. This gives users instant access to notetaking and creative apps like Bamboo Paper, Sticky Notes, Screen Sketch and others. Bamboo Ink Plus is specifically designed for drawing, writing and sketching directly on screen. To create a natural and accurate inking experience, Bamboo Ink Plus features tilt recognition (for select devices), a higher responsiveness to lighter strokes and three exchangeable nibs. The long-lasting battery is rechargeable via USB and the ergonomic design of the Bamboo Ink Plus provides a comfortable and balanced feel, even during extended hours of use.

Two styli, infinite ways to get creative and productive

As a result of Wacom and Microsoft’s strategic collaboration within the Universal Pen Framework (UPF), initiated back in 2016, Bamboo Ink and Bamboo Ink Plus are optimized for Windows Ink and work with a wide range of pen-enabled devices.

Both styli automatically support the Wacom Active ElectroStatic (AES) 1.0 and Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP) 1.5 protocols. Bamboo Ink Plus even adds the 2.0 versions of both protocols for upgraded performance. It is preset for the MPP protocol but switching to AES is as easy as simply pressing and holding the side switch.
