PRESS RELEASE
Reduce wasted energy without cutting back on comfort with HeatSmart® by EDF Energy
EDF Energy has announced the launch of HeatSmart®, a Netatmo smart thermostat installed by Help-Link Home, which enables customers to monitor and control heating remotely, so you never need to waste energy heating an empty home again.
Available for £199 including installation, HeatSmart® by EDF Energy brings together the professional installation of a smart thermostat to control heating systems via a smart phone, tablet or PC, helping to reduce wasted energy without cutting back on comfort. Its remote access enables you to match your heating system's schedule to your lifestyle, so your boiler won't run on overtime if you have to work late or your plans change. The intelligent thermostat learns your home's heating characteristics so you can be sure that your home can be comfortable when you want it to be. It also comes with a two year product and one year installation warranty, for added reassurance.
Customers purchasing HeatSmart® will benefit from:
- An easy-to-use remote heating control system, so you can arrive home to a warm home or alternatively switch it off if plans change
- The ability to set a regular weekly routine on the app (which works on Android, Apple and Windows products), so the heating comes on at times that suit you
- An Auto-Adapt function which predicts the start of the heating periods depending on the household insulation and the outside temperature, for optimal comfort
- An away function which sets the heating system to 'hibernate' when you're out of town
- A frost guard function to protect the heating system from freezing over winter
- Professional installation from a qualified Help Link Home electrician without the need to switch tariff or energy supplier
- Compatibility checker online tool is available at www.edfenergy.com/heatsmart to ensure HeatSmart ® is suitable for your home
Noeleen Keane, Manager of Technical Development at EDF Energy, said: " We all know that life doesn't run on a timer, so our heating systems should have the same flexibility. HeatSmart® keeps heating systems on track - even if plans change last minute - taking away the worry of wasting energy and money when you're not at home. It also allows you to switch it on before you walk through the door, so you can always come back to a warm and cosy home, which is especially important now winter is in full swing."
HeatSmart® is available to buy for £199 including installation, for more information visit: www.edfenergy.com/heatsmart or call 0808 178 2700 8am to 4pm (Monday to Friday).
About EDF Energy
EDF Energy is one of the UK's largest energy companies and the largest producer of low-carbon electricity, producing around one-fifth of the nation's electricity from its nuclear power stations, wind farms, coal and gas power stations and combined heat and power plants. The company supplies gas and electricity to around 6 million business and residential customer accounts and is the biggest supplier of electricity by volume in Great Britain.
EDF Energy's safe and secure operation of its eight existing nuclear power stations at sites across the country makes it the UK's largest generator of low carbon electricity. EDF Energy is also leading the UK's nuclear renaissance and has published plans to build two new nuclear power stations, subject to the right investment framework.
These new plants could generate enough low carbon electricity for about 40% of Britain's homes. They would make an important contribution to the UK's future needs for clean, secure and affordable energy. The project is already creating business and job opportunities for British companies and workers.
Through Our Better Energy Ambitions, EDF Energy has developed one of the biggest environmental and social programmes of any British energy company.
In 2014 EDF Energy received seven 'Big Ticks' in the Business in the Community (BITC) Responsible Business Awards. In 2013 EDF Energy received the Environmental Leadership for Behavioural Change Award in the national Environment and Energy Awards and was highly commended in the first ever pan European Corporate Social Responsibility Awards scheme for its Sustainable Schools programme - the Pod.
EDF Energy is part of EDF Group, one of Europe's largest power companies. EDF Energy employs around 15,000 people at locations across the UK.
