PRESS RELEASE

Las Vegas– January 4, 2016, Griffin Technology, creator of award-winning and thoughtfully designed mobile accessories, announces new accessories for USB-C connection ports, a platform that is expected to become the new standard for most devices in the future. Griffin’s newest products utilize the USB-C’s convenient, reversible connector with the introduction of their bestselling desktop accessories, charge cables and adapters now for USB-C. Their new USB-C products are the first to be covered under Griffin's new Guaranteed for Life warranty program.

USB-C is a new type of USB connection that introduces a common connector across all devices. It’s faster, smaller and more powerful. Simply put, USB-C is the new USB connection to rule them all.

“USB-C is the universal port that does it all by being the first common connector across all electronic devices. As more and more devices begin to utilize USB-C connections, users will be looking to bridge the gap between their new technology and the gadgets they've grown to love,” said Rick Kennedy, Cables Category Manager at Griffin. “Our latest accessories do just that by providing affordable solutions for both new and existing technologies.”

USB-C ports are already being used in the latest MacBook and Chromebook Pixel laptops, replacing all other USB ports. Their ability to quickly charge laptops, tablets and smartphones and transfer data at USB 3.1 speeds of up to 5Gbps make them the ideal choice for the future. Griffin’s newest accessories, chargers and adapters make it easy to transition to USB-C so users won’t have to replace their favorite gadgets.

Apple’s MagSafe connector has saved millions of laptops from damage caused by tripping over one’s power cord. But with the introduction of USB-C on new MacBooks, this safety feature is absent. Enter Griffin’s BreakSafe Magnetic USB-C Power Cable ($39.99), which brings back a magnetic breakaway power cable to USB-C compatible laptops, keeping them safe from drops and damage. The patented quick-release magnetic connector plugs into a laptop’s USB-C port and safely disconnects from the rest of the cable when put under stress or strain from incidents like tripping over the power cord. The streamlined magnetic connector is only 12.8 mm deep so it can stay plugged into a laptop’s USB-C port when not in use. BreakSafe’s included 6’ cable easily connects with the USB-C charger that comes with laptops. BreakSafe Magnetic USB-C Power Cable will be available in April 2016 at griffintechnology.com/us/breaksafe-magnetic-usb-type-c-cable.

Griffin has also developed adapters to make switching to USB-C ports easier. Griffin’s USB-C to USB-A Adapter ($19.99) connects devices like tablets, smartphones or keyboards so users don’t have to replace their favorite devices that use standard USB connections. For longer cable needs, Griffin’s new collection of 3 foot USB-C cables are also available. USB-C to USB-A Cable ($19.99) charges and syncs devices through a USB-A port like a keyboard, mouse, and wall or car chargers. USB-C to Micro USB Cable ($19.99) connects devices like smartphones, hard drives, and cameras to computers with USB-C ports. Lastly, the USB-C to USB-C Cable ($29.99) connects a user’s already compatible devices to each other whether at home or on the go. Griffin’s USB-C adapters and cables are now available at griffintechnology.com.

With the rise of new devices equipped with USB-C connections, charging them on the go will be simple with Griffin’s updated PowerJolt SE USB-C and PowerBlock USB-C. PowerJolt SE USB-C ($24.99) is one of the first car chargers made for smartphones and tablets that charge via USB-C so users can quickly charge their devices directly from their car with a 15 watt charging circuit. The rapid charging PowerBlock USB-C ($29.99) connects to wall outlets and delivers up to 15 watts of fast and safe charging. Traveling is easy with its fold-flat prongs that tuck away to extend the life of the charger by eliminating the risk of pokes and breaks. PowerJolt SE USB-C and PowerBlock USB-C will be available Q3 2016.

Griffin’s iMic USB-C ($44.99) audio interface has been updated to be compatible with new laptops using USB-C ports. iMic works with almost any audio application and converts analog audio like vinyl and tapes to digital audio like MP3s through the complimentary Final Vinyl app. Whether a computer comes with audio ports or not, iMic is the perfect tool that enables both Mac and PC users to connect stereo input and output devices to their computers via USB. Computers can now connect with anything a user’s musical heart desires such as turntables, external speakers, headphones and musical instruments by plugging directly into iMic. The new iMic USB-C will be available Q2 2016.

Griffin’s PowerMate USB-C ($49.99) is the ultimate tool for MacBook users. PowerMate is a programmable knob that replaces keystrokes with a simple twist or a click. Now with USB-C compatibility, PowerMate USB-C allows users to fully customize and control their new MacBook with thousands of customizable commands. Scrolling through music, movies, spreadsheets and documents is effortless. When in creative applications, PowerMate USB-C allows for users to quickly pan and zoom or configure their favorite brush tools for easy access. Personalize any application by replacing extra keystrokes with the ability to twist, click, scroll and scrub smoothly. PowerMate USB-C will be available Q2 2016.

Griffin’s new USB-C accessories are the first products to be covered under Griffin’s Guaranteed for Life warranty. If they ever fail to perform as specified, Griffin will repair or replace them.
