Virgin Media has today launched a high-speed mobile broadband solution with the introduction of its 7.2Mb USB modem.
Promising double the theoretical speed of its predecessor, Virgin Media's latest dongle promises a "speedier, more pleasant experience", with the company adding that speeds should be sufficient for catching up with TV programmes on BBC iPlayer.
Despite the lure of the bigger number, however, users should be aware that the speeds available from mobile broadband can be affected by many factors - including distance from a cell tower and interference from other signals. Unlike fixed-line connections, data usage limits are also far more restrictive.
