But what about that d-pad? Why have a d-pad on what is essentially a Sat Nav system? It’s for the games! Yep, the Navigator Combo is also a fully fledged games console that comes pre-loaded with 5 games and has a choice of a further 90 available for download, all taking advantage of the Navigator Combo’s built in NES emulator. You can’t really knock that now can you?
Click for larger imageWith the possible demise of the Gizmondo, the Navigator Combo has set itself up nicely in the niche of navigation/entertainment systems and whilst it’s not possible to play video or games whilst using the navigation software, it’s an ideal solution to those looking for some entertainment before having to find their way. Tomorrow I’m off into London so the Navigator Combo’s games and films would come in very handy on the hour long train journey before helping me find where I need to be.

Perhaps the Navigator Combo is a glimpse of the future of handheld devices that take everything that all the other devices do and mix it into one unit? We’re not quite there yet but that day can’t be far off.
