Warner Bros and DC Entertainment has today announced that Batman: Arkham City will be the follow up title to its award-winning action adventure, Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Developed by Rocksteady Studios, the action will take place in Arkham City, the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, it will introduce a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features.

No more details just yet and you've got a long time to wait before you can get your hands on it. Batman: Arkham City will be release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in Autumn 2011.
