Steelseries NP+
Packaging:
This mouse mat is in a rolled up package, very basic but very functional.
The packaging isn’t reusable though, due to the way it must be torn apart to get to the mat.
Specifications and a description of the water resistance and “rough glide” feel to the mouse mat are posted on the back of the packaging.
The Mouse Pad:
The Steelseries NP+ is a very large, comfortable and functional gaming mousepad.
The moment you open this out of its very basic packaging you feel the quality. It’s a very thick and spongy material that happily absorbs your wrist to improve comfort. The colour is also nice with the small white Steelseries logo in the bottom left corner.
Tracking on this mousepad is also good, the material is very finely woven and made from compressed fibres, this gives the mouse sufficient glide but enough friction to give a good feel from your mouse. The way the fibres are woven on this pad also adds partial waterproofing which makes it much easier to wipe clean if you spill your drink.
The size of this mousepad, at 450 x 400mm, was a bit of a problem for me, when I tried to use the mousemat I couldn’t fit it on my pullout tray, so it had to be used on top of the desk. If you’re looking for a very large mouse mat, this is for you.
Being a mousemat isn’t the only thing this is good for though, I also found it was very useful for putting my shiny new phone on to prevent scratches or even to place a laptop on top of, it was easily big enough for a 15” laptop. A stupid thing for a mousemat, it may be, but it’s an extra feature.
Overall this is a well designed, well thought out mouse mat with very few bad points, and the £20 price isn't bad either, would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a mammoth mouse mat.
