The Software

The Software
Software set-up takes a couple of minutes and it’s a breeze to use. It’s styled in the brand's attractive red and black colour scheme with large clear fonts and simple instructions. On the keyboard you’ve got 32KB of storage available to set up to three profiles and switching between them on the keyboard is immediate. You can also choose any of the 6 keys on keyboard to program as Single key or Macro keys simply and quickly, while recording your macro profiles is as simple as it gets. The software works well and the changes on the keyboard happen instantly; can’t ask for more than that.

Overall Impressions
Maybe, if you’re packed into a hot room at a LAN event, or have particularly sweaty hands, the fan may come in handy, but bedroom gamers will see little point to it. The keyboard, however, has been a joy to use for gaming. And though its style may not suit some, it does feel nice to use and has impressive anti-ghosting features to boot. Using the software is as simple as it gets and the keyboard is also very responsive. Overall, this is solid entry into the high-end peripheral market for Thermaltake.

The Challenger is due to launch in the UK in October, priced £35.99.

6,000 rpm, only 21dB?
Sounds like a good replacement for my aging eclipse.

Yeah that's a bit…unusual!

I'd have thought a low profile 120mm fan underneath the keyboard blowing air up, through the keys (must then put gaps in the membrane) would offer much improved ‘cooling’ and wouldn't look so…well, frankly I think it looks stupid.

Looks nice (fan aside) & £35 isn't too shocking a price which was unexpected :)
Aye I would have completely dismissed this for the stupidity of putting a fan on a keyboard but from the review I gather it's removable and the price is right so could be a viable competitor to something like the saitek eclipse II which lacks the macros and usb port.
