Player Development

Now you've kitted out and tarted up your ball slugger it's time to take 'em out and see what they can do. In career mode you start off as an amateur and have to work your way through the tournaments to progress through the rankings and work your way up the professional ladder. This happens in two ways. First you initially have access to a limited number of courses where you can take challenges which, if you are successful, give you potential attribute points for certain skills such as power, long game or putting. To add these points to your golfer though, you have to earn money in tournaments to spend on realising the potential attribute points you have earned. This is an excellent system as it neatly balances the gameplay between earning money and learning new skills.

In addition to this, if you have enough cash, you can also take golf lessons. These are essential too as they add modifying sliders to pretty much any type of shot you could want to make, as well as even adding new shot types. If you complete the lesson, you get the new shot type added to your repertoire and believe me, later on the game, you really need the full set!
