Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee-atch

Nick Haywood has been in three fights... seeing as he has a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp, you can guess who won them, eh?

At first glance, The Con from SouthPeak on the PSP seems to be little more than a fairly simplistic fighting game. Reading through the manual you get the usual buttons for punching and kicking and a few pointers as to various button combos to perform some more advanced moves and at that point most players will stop reading, pick up the game and start fighting.

But read on a bit more and you’ll find that The Con actually has more depth to it than just knocking seven bells out of your opponent. You see, the ‘Con’ part isn’t about winning or losing. It’s about conning the spectators into believing you’re doing your best, which ramps up the odds on you winning or losing a fight... and then you fight to win or lose... pocketing wads of cash depending on how you placed a bet on yourself. Think along the lines of the last fight in Guy Ritchie’s ‘Snatch’... You’re Brad Pitt’s character, Mickey O’Neil, and it’s up to you to either take a dive or put your opponent in hospital... whichever is the most profitable. And that’s what The Con is all about.
