Mad to miss it

Graphically, Dead Space is one of the best looking games on Xbox 360, with near photo-realistic environments and stunning use of lighting. Evidently, shadows are cast in all of the right places adding immensely to the foreboding atmosphere.

From the holographic menus and the deliberate omission of a HUD, which gives the game a cinematic feel, to the fine attention to detail in the locations, to the dazzling character models, to the electrifying audio, Dead Space is a master class in game design.

There are a few camera issues when you’re in close-quarters melee combat and disappointedly there’s no co-op mode, but we’re really grasping at straws to find anything negative about our Dead Space experience. The truth is that Dead Space is one of our favourite games of the year. If you're a fan of shooters you'd be mad to miss it.

Pros
Brilliant atmosphere
Looks amazing
Action-packed
Great weapons
Nice blend of fast and slow gameplay

Cons
No co-op

A master class in game design.

Gah! I meant to change that, thanks.
Damn… this game looks awesome but why oh why must they burden it with DRM? PC gamer's are getting short-changed in everything but price these days, it's almost making me want to go console…
Having owned the game since launch day on PC (24th oct), the DRM has been non-intrusive for me. I don't see the big fuss at the moment. The game runs brilliantly on PC with exception to the totally diabolical mouse lag introduced by the in-game V-sync. Turn it off, force it on in your gfx control panel (thanks Dangel for that) and mouse lag problem solved.

The review sums up my experience so far; expect the unexpected that's for sure…though if you played resident evil games a few of the surprises are similar (still gives you a jump though :D)
So many good games out and coming out (GOW 2!!). It's a good last quarter in the gaming calendar.
