Team-based challenges, compete against rival crews

Skate 2 improved dramatically over the first game in EA’s skateboarding series, with new move-sets, a refined control system and host of new game modes. Skate 3 quite simply offers more of the same, with its major face-lift this year coming from the multiplayer component rather than career mode or a significantly enhanced control scheme.

The majority of the good work was already done in Skate 2 so EA has simply taken that framework and applied it to a brand new game world. In that respect, it all feels a little predictable and a bit stale; as does the new skating arena of Port Caverton which doesn’t really have the same visual impact as the earthquake devastated city did in Skate 2. Nevertheless, Port Caverton does offer plenty of enjoyable racing lines to discover, unique districts and plazas that make good use of your comprehensive move set, so from a design perspective you can't really grumble. Skate 3 won't disappoint fans of the series as long as you're not expecting a totally new and enhanced experience, but at the same time its lack of "this gen" polish and similar feel isn't going to "wow" you either.
