Multiplayer and conclusion

Over Xbox live you'll be able to play matches with up to 16 players, although we've only ever managed to host a 12 man room. Co-op missions can now be undertaken with 8 players and are excellent for clan bonding as you'll need to work as a team to succeed. The lack of mission maps is a dissapointment, four in all, and we hope Ubisoft won't be charging inflated prices for downloadable maps in the near future.

Whilst playing 10 online games over Xbox live the server kicked me out twice, but when the servers are stable, it's a thrilling game, full of stealth, tactics and vicious fire-fights.

The multiplayer maps have been created specifically for online and the hoards of Xbox live clans will be delighted at the results. The following maps are available in the multiplayer version of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. Fishing Village, Rocky Cove , Desert Gulch,Boneyard,Dry Dock ,Nowhere ,Old Town,Wharf,Treasury and Temple.

Desert Gulch is one of the smaller maps. It has a dry rocky expanse with ridges and twisted pathways. A railway bridge sits in the centre providing wooden beams for cover, whilst rocks make ideal objects to hide behind and await the enemies. It's pretty easy on all maps to find the other teams spawn point and camp outside waiting for the kill, but GRAW gives you the option to choose random spawn points, ensuring that they'll never know which direction they'll be coming from. On Desert Gulch it's a matter of a few minutes before you reach the enemy spawn, so teamwork is crucial. Due to the winding pathways and the multitude of rocks you'll often run straight into an enemy. If one player goes running in, Rambo style, he'll almost definitely be gunned down. You'll need to think about your team's tactics in order to be victorious. The map allows for sniping or for close up action but because the map layout allows for flanking maneuvers you always need to be on the lookout for enemies. It's a small, intense map that’s easy to learn, whether you're a runner and gunner or a camping sniper the experience will be pleasurable.

All of the multiplayer maps bring something different to the floor, there's enough variety in map design and game modes to keep you coming back for more.

Overall, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is a superb single player experience, and a joy to play online. GRAW is the first game since Halo 2 that has brought many of my old friends back online, last night I had 32 people on my friend's list playing the game. GRAW is designed to bring people together, you have to communicate. The gameplay is so good that you'll forget about your other multiplayer titles................until something better comes out. Like the original Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter will dominate Xbox live for some considerable time.
