Online and conclusion

ONLINE

FIFA 07 online is superb. Every single time I’ve booted up Xbox live it’s took merely seconds to jump into a game and every match has ran extremely smoothly. There’s now a multiplayer co-op mode and a lobby system where you can challenge equally skilled players to a match, although you do have to send your messages via text rather than using the head-set. Online is where the action really happens and supporters from across the land can discuss rivalries, taunt other teams and ultimately beat them on the pitch; once you play your first online game you’ll be hooked.

The interactive tickers with score updates from the real-world of football and the Talk Sport radio news updates that you hear in between matches is a welcome addition. I’m very disappointed that the Interactive league feature that is available in the PS2 and Xbox versions of FIFA 07 hasn’t made it onto the Xbox 360, despite many online retailers stating the contrary, but I’m sure it will be next time.

There’s no doubt in our mind that FIFA 07 is the best of the series. Improved passing, flowing matches, better A.I., great options and a stable online mode make it a believable football experience. I’ve finally been convinced, I’ll still be buying Konami’s Pro Evolution titles, but now I’ll have to fork out for FIFA as well.

Pros
Stylish presentation
Improved physics
Flowing matches
Superb AI

Cons
No lower leagues!
No Interactive leagues!

No questions about it, FIFA 07 is the best football game this year.

Nice review and it looks good, but I wouldn't mind to see some further out screens of the actual gameplay rather than all close in shots. That's what most people will see in-game

Totally understand. If I had a dev kit version I could take some shots, but it's the retail version so unfortunately have to stick with those the developer has taken.

Ah fair enough - i spose it's just that the demo wasn't that much better than PES 6 and I wanted to see if the real game looked good too:)

Yeah I hated the demo. It really is different gameplay wise compared to the demo. I don't think it's a million miles from Pro Evo on the graphics within the actual game, but cutscenes and animations definitely shade it.
I guess pro evo6 is still the top football game overall.
