Pariah - Introduction

Pariah – Xbox

A little while ago we gave you an in-depth preview of Pariah, from Digital Extremes. Developed by the Montreal team, I had the pleasure of spending a few hours in a hotel room being walked through the game by Meridith and Manny, who took the time to show me some of the game’s finer points, which you read here. Anyway, that was a while ago, and now we have the game on release, so the big question is whether the promise of that preview has come through in the full game. It’s worth bearing in mind that Pariah has been developed by the same team behind Unreal, so there’s certainly a pedigree here and perhaps a reputation to uphold as well.

As we discovered at the preview, you play the role of Jack Mason, a doctor in the nadir (look it up!) of his career. What starts out as routine transfer of a cryogenically frozen patient soon turns into a fight for survival when his shuttle is shot down. His patient, Karina, is infected with a mysterious virus and is revived during the crash. The game and plot then follow Jack and Karina’s struggle to find out who set them up and escape from the people trying to kill Jack and capture Karina.
