New Year, new hope?

Nokia's smartphone for businesspeople called the E7 will hit the shelves at Three shops in Q1 of next year.

Described as an ‘evolution' of the manufacturer's flagship N8 handset, Nokia unveiled the E7 at Nokia World 2010 where it was heavily emphasised that the E7 would be marketed as a business phone.

Unlike its N8 sibling, the E7 features a full QWERTY key pad and 4 inch AMOLED screen, which boasts Nokia's Clear Black Display. The Symbian ^3 handset also packs an 8MP camera and HD video plus real-time work and personal emails in a shell that bears a lot of resemblance to an N8.

Before leaving Nokia, Anssi Vanjoki was keen to emphasise the E7's ability to edit Microsoft docs such as PowerPoint slides on the handset thanks to collaboration with the software giant.

Sylvia Chind, head of branded devices at Three, said: "We're pleased to be adding another Symbian 3 device to our smartphone range. The Nokia E7 makes the most of our strong 3G network showcasing features such as Email, huge 4 inch screen for fast browsing and customizable home screens."

Here is an image of the new handset.

This phone has soooo many boxes ticked correctly. Good screen, battery, robust keypad… One big big issue..

Symbian…. Although… At least if you are used to Symbian from the E70 or E71 then you'll be at home almost straight away with it.

Imagine this phone with Android though.. Give the desire z and milestone 2 a real run for the money. Never mind.

Nods vigorously :)

Oh, and in some other colour than that nauseating green… :puke:

Hopefully there'll be a 'droided Nokia by the time my contract comes up for renewal. Forlorn hope I know.
Nokia are clearly going to ride Symbian into its dark n' dusty grave. Bless them for sticking to their guns, unfortunately the business and fashion worlds don't care much for empathy.
