profile 1U servers that support DDR memory can now be filled to capacity with
top quality, low profile, DDR memory modules.   Transcend Information, Inc.
(Transcend) announced today the availability of new high capacity, low profile,
DDR memory modules specially designed for high-end
networking equipment and high density servers
where space is limited.  Transcend now offers 512MB and 1GB capacity, 1.2-inch,
low profile, PC266 Registered DIMMs manufactured with eight-layer PCBs. 

Increasingly server units with the 1U
(1.75-inch thin) form factor are being designed to support DDR memory modules. 
Transcend's low profile (1.2-inch) DDR DIMMs can be installed vertically on 1U
motherboards, leaving more motherboard area for other components; and, like
original DDR memory modules, Transcend's low profile, DDR Registered DIMMs have
low power consumption at 2.5V and high data transfer bandwidth at 2.1GB per
second.  Additionally, high-end 1U server systems demand high memory capacity
and require extremely high reliability.  At 512MB and 1GB, these Transcend DIMMs
help reduce the number of modules needed to boost the memory capacity of
servers, while enhanced air circulation from the lower profile and higher
manufacturing standards of the eight-layer PCBs increase stability, efficiency,

for the latest 1U servers.  Of course, these DIMMs can also be used in systems
without the space constraints of the 1U form factor.

PCBs with eight layers are designed and
manufactured to meet more severe specifications than six-layer PCBs. 
Eight-layer PCBs minimize noise signal disturbances and enhance overall system
stability and efficiency.  The 1.2-inch, low profile, PC266 Registered DIMMs
with 512MB and 1GB capacity provided by Transcend are ideal for the latest
generation of thin, rack-mountable servers.
