Now that the Cooler Master COSMOS chassis is positioned at a far more attractive price-point, hovering around £100 for what really is a decent case, there needs to be a new model that takes the flagship position.

That chassis is the COSMOS S, folks. Set to retail at $249 (£150?) when it goes on sale in March, the 'S' (Storm) uses significantly more aluminium than the plastic-clad base model and weighs a little less as a result.

Representatives were keen to point out that the revised edition is primarily designed for gamers in mind. First off, there's now room for three 120mm fans at the very top of the chassis. The cable-management system has also been overhauled for a cleaner build, but we were a little nonplussed as to why Cooler Master would remove the removable drive bays resident at the bottom of the original.

For what it's worth, there's no regular power button on the chassis. Rather, like the Dell 30in monitors, the on/off switching works off capacitance.

Not a huge departure of the incumbent model, then, but a chassis worth considering if you're looking for a quality enclosure for a high-end gaming rig.

wow that cable management put me off that case. that looks like a jungle inside that case
Is it me or does this one also seem to be missing a door on the front compared to the normal Cosmos? No wonder it weighs less!

yes SLIGHTLY
Actually, the door was the one thing putting me off the Cosmos. I just don't like cases with doors.
I'll be keeping an eye on this version.
