The release of the Cryorig Taku monitor stand PC case is edging ever closer. Today the company announced that pre-orders for the cute Jetsons / Habitat style ITX desktop chassis had at last opened up and that the product would start to ship to customers from 5th December onwards. Taku will be the first ever chassis from Cryorig, a Taiwanese PC DIY cooling specialist.

HEXUS first took note of the Cryorig Taku back ahead of Computex 2016, and then highlighted its further refinement and launch of Kickstarter funding campaign ahead of Computex 2017. In all, Cryorig says it has been developing this product for two years, with one year co-development alongside manufacturing partner Lian-Li.

Unfortunately the summer Kickstarter campaign wasn’t a big success but Cryorig still felt confident enough to continue with its development and manufacture, with its eye on a product launch in three regions; USA, Japan and Taiwan. Today it is already up for pre-order at Newegg (USA) priced at $299.99 with order fulfilment estimated from 5th December 2017. Cryorig says that all original Kickstarter backers will be given the option to pre-order and are guaranteed to receive a unit before the end of December, including a free Cryorig C7 low profile cooler. Other markets are planned be addressed during H1 2018.

As a reminder of the Cryorig Taku spec, it is a PC Monitor Stand and a high-end ITX form factor PC case. It is compatible with dual-slot (40mm) GPUs up to 280mm long, CPU coolers up to 48mm tall, memory modules up to 52mm tall, ITX form factor mainboards, SFX or SFX-L power supplies, and can fit 1x 3.5-inch HDD, and two 2.5-inch SSD/HDDs. As a stand it can support up to 15Kg and tidy away a full width 104 key mechanical keyboard underneath. For easy access the Taku sports dual USB 3.0 ports and audio in/out ports to the front right, with a USB-Type C port upgrade kit planned for later revisions. Furthermore, there are a pair of cable management cutouts on the front where you can thread through cables from the inside/back.

Actually looks quite nice, if a little bit IKEA. Could work well as an HTPC chassis.
“Power button: Premium-grade button”

For $299 I wouldn't accept anything less, like a “Power button: Adequate-grade button” or a “Power button: Better-than-average-grade button”. I don't know, it feels like the button makes a difference. When people ask WTF is that <mod removed> under the monitor I'm gonna say “That's a Premium-grade button with a computer casing surrounding it”.

If you do get it, let me know and I promise I'll ask "WTF is that <mod removed> under the monitor?"
“Cryorig reinvents 1980's desktop PC, adds wooden legs. World goes nuts for it”

My only surprise is that Apple didn't get their first ;)

I don't want to know what the mod might have removed from under his monitor… it sounds unclean!! :D
