Pimp my iPad

Luxury goods designer and serial bling artist Stuart Hughes has unveiled his latest eye-wateringly expensive gadget creation; the ‘Gold History' iPad 2 for a staggering $8m or £5m.

The tablet is covered in gold, diamonds, shards of dinosaur bones and ammonites, according to IT Pro Portal and is sure to be the envy of rappers and wags alike.

They will have to fight for the honour of splashing their cash on such an ostentatious (some might say beautiful) object d'art though as there will apparently only be two made.

Reportedly dubbed by the jeweller as "undoubtedly the world's most unique gadget," the shiny black or white exterior covering the standard iPad 2, which will be released in the UK tomorrow, is replaced with a coating of 24ct gold, slivers of T-Rex thigh bone, and a whopping 8.5ct sparkler as well as pieces of ammolite- the world's oldest rock, sourced from Canada.

The tablet is also apparently encrusted with 53 flawless 12.3ct diamonds set in the Apple logo. The giant 8.5ct diamond is used for the tablet's home button and is encircled by 12 other slightly smaller rocks.

While Apple might have worked hard to reduce the weight of its second generation tablet, all that bling weighs the new model down and the golden coating alone apparently adds 2,000 grams in weight.

The 75 million years-old ammolite reportedly adds another 750 grams, while the dino bone adds 57 grams.
