LG will be showing off the Tab-Book H160 at the CES in Las Vegas later this week but lucky consumers in South Korea can already buy this Windows 8 hybrid computer. It’s powered by Intel’s 1.8 GHz Atom Z2760 processor and has an 11.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. The machine, with its useful built-in keyboard, is 15.9mm thick and weighs in at 1.05Kg. Its portability is enhanced by the fact that the machine has a battery life of approximately 12 hours (MobileMark 2012).
We’ve seen a couple of slider convertibles before like the Android based ASUS Eee Pad Slider and the Windows 8 based MSI S20 Ultrabook. Actually the MSI S20, which was shown off at Computex, has only just been scheduled for availability in Q1 2013.
LG’s Tab-Book H160 tries to offer the best of both laptop and tablet worlds with some compromises, as you might expect. The sliding keyboard adds weight and makes the device thicker than many tablets. Also there is no touchpad/mouse button/wrist-rest area due to the slider’s depth. A straight conversion of the Korean prices for the Tab-Book H160 results in a figure of £575.
LG also has plans to produce a more powerful version of the Tab-Book called the Tab-Book Z160. This beefier Tab-Book will be powered by an Intel i5 processor and is expected to cost around £899 in the UK reports Hardware Info.
