ASUS has launched the Transformer Book T100HA, a new version of the popular T100 2-in-1, which offers one of Intel's new Cherry Trail SoCs beating at its heart. Also launched today is the new Transformer Book Flip TP200SA. This is a Yoga-hinged style laptop which features a quad-core Intel Celeron Braswell processor. Both these Transformer devices will become available next month.

ASUS Transformer Book T100HA

The Transformer Book T100HA features Intel's Atom x5-Z8500 processor. This 14nm quad-core processor can boost up to 2.24GHz and features Intel HD Graphics which offer about twice the performance of its predecessor, says ASUS.

This 2-in-1 now features a USB Type-C port as well as a MicroUSB port and a regular USB 2.0 port. With the keyboard attached the device is 16.5mm thick and weighs under a kilo. In tablet mode it is just 8.45mm thick and just 580g in weight.

Other key specs are; a 10.1-inch 1280x800 pixel display, a 2-in-1 card reader, Front 2 MP and Rear 5 MP cameras, 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4, microphone/headphone combi jack, microHDMI port, plus built-in speakers and an array Mic. It is claimed to offer 12 hours of battery life from its 30Whr battery.

You can specify either 2GB or 4GB of RAM and eMMC storage capacities of 32, 64 or 128GB. There's also a choice of four colours; grey, aqua blue, white and red (pictured above). ASUS's Transformer Book T100HA comes with Windows 10 installed, with its handy Continuum mode. Pricing starts from $299.

ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP200SA

This new 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768 pixel IPS touch-screen equipped, ASUS laptop features a 'robust' 360 degree multi-gear hinge for all sorts of operational modes. It comes with either a Pentium N3700 quad-core or a Celeron N3050 dual-core processor installed. Both these 14nm 'Braswell' processors were launched in Q1 this year.

Buyers can specify up to 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of eMMC, or even a 128GB SSD, to be equipped. Again this machine features one of the new USB Type-C ports, alongside the following; a USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port, a 3-in-1 card reader, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, microphone/headphone combi jack, microHDMI port, plus built-in speakers and a Mic.

The brushed-metal finished device measures 18.45mm thick and weighs 1.2Kg. Its 38Whr polymer battery is said to offer 8 hours of use away from a power outlet. Again Windows 10 comes pre-installed. Pricing for the TP200SA starts at $349.

Exactly what I was thinking. A good 1080p display and it would have been a much more desirable product to compete with the Surface. Sticking to my reconditioned Venue 11 pro which cost me £140 for now :-)
