GIGABYTE's GA-X58A-UD9 motherboard has been touted as one of the most extreme X58 solutions since its unveiling two weeks ago, but we haven't been able to attach a price point to the board until now.

Our best guess had been "well over £300", but the ultra-high-end offering, pictured below, has surprised even us by belatedly arriving at UK retailers priced at a jaw-dropping £466*.

That makes it one of the most expensive mainboards on offer, and it costs almost £350 more than GIGABYTE's own X58 alternative; the GA-EX58-UD3R.

Making use of the enlarged XL-ATX form factor, the monster board measures 345mm x 262mm and provides seven PCIe x16 slots, a dual power switching 24-phase design and heatsinks that can hook up to your water-cooling loop.

Worth the substantial premium? Our hands on preview provides a look at the board's credentials, but stay tuned for a definitive verdict in our upcoming review.

Hahah. £466 for a motherboard. That's just so ridiculous. You could buy almost three X58A-UD3R boards for that money. There must be a nice markup involved, I'm sure.
