Whatever you think about its computers, it's hard to deny that Dell's monitors offer good quality at very reasonable prices. Adding to its current offerings, the company has this week released four new versions of its mainstream consumer-monitors.
The smallest is the 20in IN2020M, featuring a 1,600x900px resolution, VGA and HDCP-compliant DVI-inputs and costing only £109.79, including VAT and shipping.
Next up are the ST2220L and ST2320L, both featuring resolutions of 1,920x1,080px and the choice of DVI, VGA and HDMI inputs. While most of the specs are the same, the ST2220L has a 21.5in screen, while the ST2320L bumps it up to (you guessed it) 23in. The former is currently retailing for £169, while the latter will cost £179, both including VAT and shipping.
At the head of the family is the new ST2420L, which again shares some of the specs and the design aesthetics with the other monitors. The 24in panel again supports resolutions of up to 1,920x1,080px over DVI, VGA or HDMI. Unfortunately, this monitor isn't planned for Europe at this point, but is currently available in the US and Canada for $259.99 (£203 including VAT). Availability will be extended soon, but only to Japan, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
These four monitors are the first of Dell's consumer-line to make use of LED-backlighting, which will give better contrast-ratios and deeper blacks than traditional LCD-screens. Power usage should also be lower, with all models using between 22W and 24W.
All of the monitors are available now from Dell for the prices listed above. Be aware, though, that prices on the company's store are known to fluctuate quite significantly from week to week, so the given prices are only accurate as of the date of publication.
