Last week at Computex, G.Skill International held its 5th Annual OC World Record Stage overclocking event. These extreme computer hardware performance challenges and world record attempts took place over five days at Asia's biggest tech show. Now the event has ended, the results gathered up and checked over, G.Skill has proudly announced that 12 overclocking records in 8 different benchmarks were broken during the week.

The records that G.Skill is most proud of involve the headlining use of its memory, not as a support component - but as the component being pushed to its maximum for a world record attempt. You can see at the top of the table of world records that G.Skill has listed the world's fastest memory frequency world record at DDR4 5189MHz. Overclocker Splave (USA) managed this feat using an ASRock Z170M OC Formula motherboard and an Intel Core i7 6700K processor.

Among other key records broken are a couple of records in the Unigine Heaven benchmark, and various 3DMark records/first place results, driven entirely by Nvidia GeForce graphics cards paired with Intel Core i7 Skylake processors. The most popular graphics card, precipitating many records, is the recent Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080, but the GTX 980 Ti did pretty well too.

Another G.Skill news bulletin just published celebrates its OC World Cup 2016 winners. The OC World Cup took place over four days at Computex and was judged by overclocking stalwarts Hiwa and Steponz.

You can see Splave being awarded the $10,000 USD cash prize in the picture above. He also got a Kingpin Cooling Dragon F1 Dark CPU Pot. Second place was Dancop (Germany), with Lucky_n00b (Indonesia) in third.

I assume benchmarks don't have to be rendered properly for the records to count? ;D
and an Intel Core i7 9700K processor

I assume that's an i7 6700K?
i win that record xD
That girl on the left, so cute. But, overclocking at huge speeds and retarded latency is kinda stupid. I mean, if you can't actually game using some of those OCs, it's just not worth it.
I never got the excitement, or bragging rights attached to the unusable OCs as others have mentioned
But people get excited about climbing MtEverest despite the ratio of deaths to summit reachers.
Takes all kinds, and, in the end, i would rather mess with overclocking RAM or my cpu and only risk burning some plastic or silicon . not that anyone ever offered me those options. just saying…
