Atom-powered systems are said to be all the rage here at COMPUTEX '08, and judging by what we've seen so far, that might well be true.
Though many stands are still heavily under construction, ASUS and MSI were both today preparing their Atom-based mini-systems for display.
In the red corner, ASUS' Eee desktop machine, the Ebox, is in plentiful supply at the ASUS stand. Over the coming days, you'll be seeing this tiny system in various colours and designs (including a lovely bamboo) and you'll be hearing a lot about it.
In the blue corner, MSI's Wind Desktop, which we've dubbed the "Windbox", has literally invaded the MSI stand, it's everywhere, and comes with plenty of bright colours and graphical designs.
Both systems will feature Intel Atom processors and they'll go head to head later this year. But, there's one key factor that could sway consumers toward MSI's Wind - it has an optical drive, whereas the Ebox, sadly, doesn't. Then again, the Ebox looks a whole lot cooler (in our opinion) and is a fair amount smaller, too.
We'll be sure to get complete specifications, prices, and launch dates, when COMPUTEX officially opens tomorrow.
