MSI has launched the world’s first 27-inch All-in-One computer aimed at the gaming market. The new Wind Top AG2712 features an Intel i7 quad-core processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 670MX discrete graphics with up to 3GB of GDDR5 RAM. This combination of processing power and a 27-inch full HD display “will impress both casual and enthusiastic gamers with visual awe and a striking performance” proclaims the MSI promotional blurb.

Gaming niche within the AiO and Laptop markets

When we have previously seen analysts drill down into the figures which paint the overall picture of the declining PC industry we have seen that there are a couple of brighter spots in the scheme of things. Among PCs both laptops and All-in-One (AiO) computers offer a relatively buoyant niche on which PC makers can refocus.

Marketing and strategic management bods at MSI seem to have noticed the way the wind is blowing. Also it must have been noted that traditionally, in the laptop and AiO market, gaming performance comes second to other system considerations. Previously we have seen MSI gaming notebooks, we had an MSI GE70 Gaming Notebook in the HEXUS labs, looking to carve out a chunk of this niche within a niche.

What constitutes a gaming All-in-One according to MSI?

MSI has an interesting chart to show prospective purchasers the gaming frame-rate advances offered by the GeForce GTX 670MX graphics compared with Nvidia’s earliler GeForce GTX 670M solution. See below for that chart.

Options

Please note the optional system specifications if you are interested in this AiO offering. First of all, when considering the screen of this AiO; MSI allows buyers to specify whether to choose a 10-point multi-touch enabled panel. Buyers can also decide to opt for a glossy or matt anti-glare screen coating. Another option is for a 128GB SSD drive instead of the standard 1TB HDD but while the SSD option will benefit system responsiveness it isn’t going to give you much room for your games library.

The MSI “will become available in Europe by the last week of April” however we have no pricing indication for the range as yet. You can read more about the MSI Wind Top AG2712 and its components on the official page here.

A year too late.
A 680mx is approx= to a 580, so I'm assuming that a 670mx = 570.
Never going to be a good idea with laptop parts.
Meh. 1080 screen & 670? Casual gamers, not enthusiasts methinks…
Portable lan party machine maybe?

Portable lan party machine maybe?
This is true, shame the hardware is very lackluster, its a laptop in a different box which is a shame really.
