Performance

Confession time. The MasterBox K500 isn't a vastly superior performer; the remarkably low CPU temperature can be attributed to a change in test methodology. As our 240mm radiator simply won't fit in the roof of the case, we installed it up front, with the two chassis fans contributing to a push/pull configuration. Factor in that the chassis fans run at full speed, and it's no surprise our Ryzen 7 1800X chip is kept below 60ºC under load.

Chassis testing can be complicated by external factors. On a particularly hot day, it was no surprise to find the Radeon GPU hitting 72ºC and succumbing to throttling.

Noise, we feel, is what sets the best cases apart, and it's an area in which the MasterBox K500 falls well short. The default, Molex-powered fans are loud at all times.
