Looking inside...

Inside the Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 the majority of the required motherboard mounts are already in place – we only need to add two more for the Intel platform we fitted.

Then we get on to the add-on card plates on the back. Why, oh why, are they made of cheap pressed aluminium?

At this price range it’s almost offensive to find twist-off blanking plates on the back, not only that but Zalman doesn’t ship any spare plates with the chassis. This is seriously disappointing and something Zalman should definitely work on.

The two 92mm fans at the front come with the appropriate connector to power them both off a single Molex, and whilst the majority of the front port cables are black, one is, surprisingly, white.

To make matters worse, the white cable is the only one that’s actually marked, the USB and FireWire ports are just black blocks. Fantastic, considering the manual helpfully advises that ‘connecting them up wrong might cause component failure’. Great!
