Moving further towards the front of the chassis is the HDD-mounting solution. With the capacity to fit three 3.5” HDD’s using a number of different sized ‘rubber rollers’ to secure both the drives and aid noise absorption.

To fit a drive into the solution you lift the front bar upwards, slide in the drive all the way to the back so it rests up against the foam padding. Once the drive is in place the front roller is pushed back and then a single screw is placed into its side to lock it in place.

The system proves to be very effective at absorbing drive noise, but there is a slight problem with it.

Due to the side rollers the airflow over the drives suffers, despite the 2 x 92mm fans at the front, the restrictive design on the sides means that whilst the drive noise is absorbed it doesn’t reduce the overall chassis noise as much as it should.
