NZXT's Source 340 is one of the more satisfying PC chassis we've worked with in recent months. Priced affordably and designed with many of the essentials in mind, this is a mid-tower that looks smart, is easy to build into and roomy enough for powerful gaming components.

Cable management is excellent throughout - we were genuinely surprised at how easy it is to maintain a tidy-looking build - and, with no optical bays, NZXT has been able to create a modestly-sized enclosure that can still accommodate a radiator or two.

This is close to being the perfect low-cost gaming chassis, however we can think of two genuine drawbacks: there's no reset button, which is a strange omission, and both the matter interior and side-panel window are prone to scuff marks.

Bottom line: a few small niggles aside, the Source 340 remains an excellent choice and is practically a no-brainer for a low-cost gaming rig.

Been eying this case up since it was announced a while back as it seems to be the smallest full ATX case out there as they have finally removed the 5.25 drive bay and shrank the depth of the case.

Can't be bothered to transplant my machine again any time soon tho :P

Nice looking case, but while I don't need any optical drives I do need somewhere to put a fan controller.

On the 2nd page, you written Fractal R5 instead of NZXT S340 on the specs table :)

Ha! Ordered mine yesterday! On a mission to revitalise my i7 920 to get another few years out of it.

I find the internal layout/design a bit stupid.

They supposedly made this case with people in mind who use closed loop coolers. However there is not enough space for a push/pull fan setup at the front/top, unless you want to trim/remove the shiny cable duct cover.
They should have made the case a few cm longer and taller, which should then give you enough clearance for push/pull fan setups and also 2 x 140mm fans/280mm radiator at the top.
I also don't like that they neglected to filter the top/rear fans, which would have been sensible in my opinion for setups that have a radiator in the front. It's not like anyone actually wants to pull hot air from the front through the entire case and then out the back, when one can just push it out the front.

As for the lack of 5.25" bays, a bus powered USB DVD recorder costs < £20 delivered and does a sensible job (for me).

The only thing I personally like about the S340 is that it looks so damn pretty. Did I mention that I bought one because of its looks. :shocked2:
