Packaging and size comparison

Packaging

Considering that it was a production sample, it was nice surprise that SilverStone had managed to print up the box – these usually arrive with us in boring old plain cardboard. What's especially good is that it made this hack's life a little easier - the specs were right there on the box!

Size Comparison

Given that most system cases are of a sort-of-standard size, we struggled to come up with an effective way of showing just how much smaller SilverStone's offering was than usual. In the end, a box of matches was cast aside and a bottle of favourite curry beer put in its place :).

As you can see, it really is small! Dimensions are just 360(h) x 200(w) x 312(d) mm. That's about the size of two shoe boxes standing side by side on their ends. Construction is pure aluminium and that makes it look stunningly pretty. Aluminium also helps keep the weight right down – it tips the scales at a mere 3.5kg when empty.

Depth is where the SG-03 really pulls the rabbit out of the hat, it's hard to believe all the components fit and we aren't talking half-height cards or specially-shrunken proprietary PSUs either.
