We can also tap into the RTX 3080's masive shading capability by looking at various GPGPU benchmarks. The speedups in AES encryption and V-Ray are immense - Ampere is up to 2.9x as fast as Turing's 2080S, closely matching theoretical spec. Bizarrely, RTX 2070 Super is faster than 2080 here.
Got an application that loves Cuda cores? That may be reason enough to buy Ampere-based cards.
