Overclocking
Running at 1,330MHz core and 7,400MHz memory - or about 10 per cent on both fronts - the card returns an RX 480-like number in the Fire Strike Extreme test.
The reason we're seeing a greater-than-expected improvement is down to the overclocked card, plied with a 150 per cent power target, being able to maintain the 1,330MHz boost clock throughout the benchmark. Even so, performance remains shy of a £200 Sapphire RX 480 Nitro 4GB.
Overclocked to the maximum safe limits, the RX 470 GPU behaves like a basic RX 480.
