Conclusion

Combining an Intel Core i5 processor with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics makes a whole lot of sense when paired to a 1080p display...

The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is a well-balanced 17.3in gaming laptop that doesn't break the bank yet manages to deliver solid performance in modern DX12 titles.

Combining an Intel Core i5 processor with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics makes a whole lot of sense when paired to a 1080p display, and Asus furthers the laptop's appeal through the addition of G-Sync, a broad selection of I/O ports and a full-size backlit keyboard.

Plenty to like, though with a little extra care the GL702VM could easily have been elevated from good to great. The default 128GB SSD is measly by today's standards, as is the use of single-channel memory, while the orange accents and pre-loaded bloatware detract from an otherwise sleek design.

There's room for improvement, but at £1,200 the Asus configuration undercuts many GTX 1060-based competitors in its class. All things considered, the ROG Strix GL702VM remains a solid choice for any gamer seeking an affordable 17.3in laptop that can deliver high-quality thrills at a full-HD resolution.

Hi, I bought 15" of this (another CPU and GPU), but would agree on those orange/reddish WASD keys that look out of their place, but my biggest issue is with mousepad , more specifically the buttons left/right. They fill horrible and do not clic every time. So mouse is must have with this laptop.

Other than that, very good laptop for the money. performance is right there and the weight is light enough.
