Make no mistake, an eight-core, 16-thread AMD Ryzen processor is a significant upgrade over the quad-core mobile CPUs we've become accustomed to. Performance in multi-threaded scenarios can double what's on offer from an Intel Core i7-10610U.

It is also interesting to see a gap opening up between the Ryzen 7 4750U (ThinkPad T14s) and Ryzen 7 4800U (Yoga Slim 7). This is because the latter is configured to 25W and allowed to stretch its legs by maintaining higher frequencies for prolonged periods. The T14S, by comparison, keeps its CPU limited to 15W and proved eager to throttle all-core frequency to 2.4GHz during the more demanding tests. If you're willing to forego the famed ThinkPad build quality, the Yoga Slim 7 ultimately costs less while packing a bigger punch.
