CPU Tests

CPU tests let us see how the N2VIEW suffers under CPU load. Again, I'll comment on performance compared to a recent Ultra 400 board when necessary.

Recent testing with the AN7 reveals the N2VIEW is running 10% slower than that board, a little slower than expected, even given the memory speed deficit. Under our simulated load, the N2VIEW is nearly 25% slower than when idle, a bigger difference than seen with the PT800TWIN. HyperThreading helps the P4-based MagicTwin keep the performance difference as low as possible.

The no load result is ~14% faster than the load result, tallying with the CPU and memory load more closely than Kribibench. Things are working as expected, Windows XP and the MagicTwin software splitting up available computing resources as best they can.

We're only 8% slower doing LAME, a surprising result given the CPU load, but utterly reproducable. It's clear MagicTwin and Windows XP are doing effective resource sharing.

On to the 3D tests.
