Memory Tests

The memory tests are designed to highlight the general performance of the memory subsystem. We use a trio of tests to analyse said performance, Pifast is up first. It's our own custom test to 10M decimal places.

Pifast

The PF4 is faster than the AG8, despite using DDR-II memory, with both Grantsdale boards besting the Intel D925XCV. Good early performance and an indication ECS have taken the time to make sure the PF4 performs well out of the box.

Sciencemark 2.0 - Bandwidth

Sciencemark 2.0 measures peak CPU to memory controller bandwidth, the bandwidth available to the CPU for memory intensive tasks. It doesn't take into account any excess bandwidth available on the memory controller, that may or may not be usable by other peripherals.

The PF4 has a slight advantage over the D925XCV, with both DDR-II-equipped boards showing more bandwidth than the DDR-I-driven ABIT AG8.

Sciencemark 2.0 - Access Latency

The PF4's access latency penalty is very slightly lower on average than the D925XCV's, at the same basic memory timings. Neither can keep pace with the low-latency DDR-I on the AG8.
