Overclocking

Overclocking on Skylake and Z170 is being hailed by motherboard vendors for the base clock flexibility but the reality is that the simplest overclocks still come from changing the multiplier and upping the core voltage. We know from previous testing that our chip can hold stable at 4.9GHz with 1.45volts but on the MSI board it couldn't quite reach stability. We were, however, able to achieve 4.8GHz with 1.4 volts which delivers a much better balance of power consumption and temperatures, particularly for 24/7 operation.
