Gamut, Colour and Brightness

Most modern monitors now offer 100 percent sRGB coverage so we choose to chart the wider AdobeRGB and DCI-P3 standards. A score of over 80 per cent on the DCI-P3 test can be deemed very good, and the AOC, at 91 per cent, is impressive given the price point.

When it comes to colour accuracy, an average Delta-E of less than two can be rated good, while anything scoring below one is considered excellent. AOC falls into the good camp, leaving little need for at-home calibration.

Brightness is one area in which the latest displays have come on heaps and bounds. Our C27G2ZU review unit peaks at 288 nits, which can be considered relatively dull alongside brighter, HDR-capable competitors.

VA panels certainly have their drawbacks, but there are upsides, too. Black levels are excellent, and contrast, as evidenced here, tends to be superior to IPS alternatives.
