Benchmarks: NAS Performance Toolkit - Part II

Continuing with NASPT's simulated traces, File Copy from NAS copies a 1.4GB file from the server in sequential transactions of 64KB reads. Directory Copy to NAS represents the transfer of a complex directory containing 2,833 files, where only 52 per cent of writes are logically sequential due to small file sizes. Directory Copy from NAS transfers the same directory in the opposite direction, and Office Productivity is a read and write test involving hundreds of small files totalling 2.8GB.

Large sequential transfers are ultimately where 2.5GbE really comes into its own and in most benchmarks the Asustor is some way ahead of the competition. Of course, if your switch supports link aggregation, you could potentially double transfer rates to over 500MB/s.
