PCMark and Windows File Transfer

PCMark's data drive benchmark examines NAS products through three traces that entail copying 339 JPEG files to the server (write test), making a copy of said files (read-write test) and then copying the files to another drive (read test). Qnap's TS-453D delivers the best results we've seen thus far, and by some margin.

Wondering if there's a real-world merit to a 2.5GbE connection? Even mechanical drives in a RAID configuration are able to make better use of that increased throughput. It takes 151 seconds to copy three files totalling 16.4GB to the Synology DS920+ in our file copy test. Qnap's TS-453D completes the same task in just 62 seconds.
