Power consumption is undoubtedly a strong point, with the DS216play featuring as the most efficient hard-disk-based unit on show. Noise levels, too, are kept down to an admirable level. We've mentioned that the Synology NAS doesn't offer quick-access bays, yet on the other hand drive installation is simple (undoing just two screws allows for the chassis to slip open) and the provided drive fixings are padded with rubber to help soak-up vibration.
