Conclusion

...The 2017 iteration has much better efficiency, is quieter and has rock-solid regulation when compared to its older namesake.

Corsair has improved the TX-M series in almost every way. The 2017 iteration has much better efficiency, is quieter and has rock-solid regulation when compared to its older namesake.

Over the pond this supply is readily available for $110, or $20 cheaper than the RMx of the same capacity that it bests in some of our tests. With that kind of pricing in mind the TX-M 850 makes sense.

However, on this side of the water, the £115 asking fee is almost the same as the RMx, currently on promotion, and close enough to other Platinum supplies to make an outright recommendation nebulous.

Appreciating that the engineering aspect is solid, we still feel as if Corsair has another fine PSU in the current mix.

The Good

The Bad

I have this PSU - I don't need 850W but my old PSU popped and this was available at an incredibly low price, so I couldn't refuse.

with a PSU, you were right to buy the best you could get for the value. This particular model seems likes excellent value and performance.

Corsair and no RGB what is this

No, that's the next revision.

Which means this could be the last good product they ever make.
