Conclusion

Such thoughts shouldn't take away from the fact that this is another good, decent PSU from the ever-growing EVGA stable...

EVGA has been somewhat guilty of overegging the pudding with respect to power supplies. The GQ, G1, G2, G3 are now augmented by the G1+ model, but it does make sense as it's a solid improvement over the first-generation design that's almost five years old.

Moving to a more efficient platform, improving voltage regulation, adding a better fan, and reducing depth by 10mm are obvious value-adds, as is having two 8-pin connectors for power-hungry motherboards. Cabling remains generous, though we'd prefer properly flat cables. The modular front enables you to hook everything up in one go.

Being picky, keeping the G3's eco mode would have been another plus point - it's hard to separate the two on a spec basis, frankly - and one could argue the £99 price is a bit steep when a quality Seasonic 650W Focus Plus+ is available for £85.

Such thoughts shouldn't take away from the fact that this is another good, decent PSU from the ever-growing EVGA stable, and it does exactly what it says on the tin.
