Conclusion

...RGB lighting is even and bright on the wide diffusers, matching the quality and intensity of all put the very latest Corsair Dominator Platinum sticks.

Team Group's XCalibur RGB memory is immediately recognisable due to its distinctive look and sloping heatspeaders. In a world where homogeneity generally rules, it's good to see something different.

The introduction of the Phantom Gaming sub-brand brings with it cheaper kits that start at around £130 and offer solid performance via a combination of 3,200MHz frequency and middle-of-the-road timings.

RGB lighting is even and bright on the wide diffusers, matching the quality and intensity of all put the very latest Corsair Dominator Platinum sticks, and there's the usual raft of control via a dedicated app.

We'd ideally prefer the removal of that ungainly clasp - it spoils the aesthetic and light show - and would like to see Samsung B-die chips also made available, but as a relatively low-cost introduction into fast DDR4 with the relevant bling, Team Group does a good job. Well-built and performant, put these on a prospective shopping list for decent RAM, if lighting is your thing.

The Good

The Bad
Looks pretty good
Solid RGB implementation
Excellent build quality

Sloping spreader an acquired taste

Samsung no longer make B-die chips, if anything has them going forward they're going to command an insane premium.
Kinda pricey, almost £60 more than generic RAM

Corsair also do RGB RAM for less, at the same speed (white, black)
I've just jumped on to 2x8GB 3000MHz sticks from scan for £63 last week. Straight up fool premiums on these.

Slightly less than I paid for 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz in 2016. Mental how it's taken such a long time to drop back to original prices.
Ugh RGB everywhere. Still, if it keeps the kiddies happy and as long as there's a non-RGB cheaper alternative, I suppose there's no harm.
